My mom and I have been to these
retreats for four years running, and we're HOOKED!
The classes are great, the ladies we meet are great,
and WOW—how spoiled can you get? You get a
terrific class with tremendous support, and someone
cooks for you and washes all the dishes! This is
better than any vacation I ever took!

I have attended one retreat a year for the last 5 years and I have to say that there is NO better vacation than the one you get at Dottie's place. Where else can you spend three nights and not have to do anything but have fun? No cooking, no cleaning, no resposibilities. You just relax and do what YOU like to do. This is the one vacation I look forward to going to all year long. It's fabulous!!!!!!

I have been attending Dottie's quilting
retreats since 1999, some years I've attended two
or three. The retreats are wonderful! The company
is great, not to mention the food, and the ambience.
Dottie and Jean just make the retreats wonderful
from the time you arrive, until you have to leave.
I just love being able to sit on the porch and have
meals, and listen to the wind blow through the trees.
It's truly a heavenly experience. I really can say
it's the best retreats that I've been on.

I recently went on the Baja Cruise!
While I did not get many blocks done I had the best
time. And who better to cruise with than quilters.
I have signed up to go again next year!

If you've ever had a favorite place to go on the
weekend, or for Thanksgiving, or for any other holiday, now you can add
Dottie's and Jean's quilting retreats to those places! It's like the friendship,
the warmth, and the comfort of coming home--to family, to friends, to good food
and great company! AND, you get to quilt, too! My sister and I go every year
and leave just wanting to return. It's great!

Dottie and Jean's quilting retreats
are a great way to stay connected to family. Dottie
and I were co-workers/friends . . . like 100 years
ago . . . when we both worked for Contra Costa County.
My first retreat was a mid-week retreat 3 years
ago with all family. There were two cousins from
Texas, 2 sisters-in-law—one from Southern
California, and one from Northern California. Then
there were my three daughters—one from Seattle
Washington, one from Bangkok, Thailand, and one
from the East Bay area and, of course, ME. The next
year, the attendance changed slightly—one
cousin could not come, but a granddaughter and her
7-month old son joined us. Some of the husbands
stopped by in the afternoon to visit. More family
connections!
James was such a happy baby . . . he was "singing"
the whole time. Playpens are great, and there were
plenty of adults to cheer him on. This year, with
a 1 1/2-year-old toddler, my granddaughter will
not be able to attend. It is possible that another
sister may join us. We can be so much more flexible
with attendance when it is mid-week and all family.
I am really singing the praises of a mid-week retreat
for families to get together. We have the option
of choosing our own pattern (although no one has
done it yet !). I finally asked Dottie to choose
a pattern for us.
My daughter, Leslie, and I went on the quilting
cruise in February. We both finished our quilts,
plus had a really great time! We are both signed
up again for 2007.
Yes, I will be going to Dottie and Jean's retreats
for as long as they have them . . . like forever
and forever!
